Infants to 18 months

You’ve made it through the first few days! You’re starting to get the hang of being a new parent and creating a little bit of a routine.

Spend time face-to-face with your baby every day. Take time to watch and listen to your baby to learn how your baby asks for what they want or need. There’s no such thing as spoiling a baby with too much attention – never ignore your baby when they are hurt, sick, afraid or lonely.

As baby grows and hits new milestones, you might have questions. We’re here to help.

Immunization for Infants

Immunization is a healthy choice that saves lives. When you immunize your baby, you’re protecting them against illness and serious harms such as meningitis, pneumonia, paralysis, deafness, seizures, brain damage, cancer or even death. BC’s immunization program provides free vaccines to protect your child from 15 diseases.

Immunizations start at 2 months of age, and continue at 4, 6, 12 and 18 months. Learn more about the vaccination schedule and the vaccines provided.

The immunizations can be provided by your local public health centre or your family physician.
